Retinal Detachment (RAS)

Retinal detachment is a serious eye condition that occurs when the retina (a light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye) is pulled away from its normal position. This can happen if the jelly-like substance that fills the center of your eye breaks loose and pushes against the retina. If not treated promptly, retinal detachment can cause blindness.

Retinal detachment surgery is a highly successful procedure in which the retina is reattached to the back of the eye. In cases where there are also breaks or holes in the retina, these will be sealed during surgery as well.
