Entropian (Lid Surgery)

Entropion is a condition where your eyelid turns inward toward your eyeball. This can cause the skin and eyelashes on your eyelid to rub against your eye, which can be uncomfortable and irritating to your cornea (the front part of your eye).

Entropion surgery is most commonly performed in order to improve the appearance of an inward-turning eyelid and bring it back to its natural position. To do this, local anesthesia is used to numb the area around your eyelid. The surgery itself is usually brief and most people are able to go home on the same day.

Entropion (Lid Surgery)

Surgery is usually performed to address the inward-turning eyelid and return it to a normal position. These surgeries typically involve local anesthesia to numb your eyelid. Most people go home on the same day as their surgery.

Surgical entropion repair methods include:

  • Eyelid tightening. This procedure shortens your eyelid (called a lateral tarsal strip) to tighten your lid.
  • Weiss Procedure: The procedure is determined by the cause, pathology, and degree of entropion,

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the complications of entropion?
If left untreated, entropion can cause serious damage to the cornea and conjunctiva, including corneal stromal abrasion, scarring, corneal thinning, and corneal neovascularization. In advanced cases, there is even a risk of corneal ulcer and perforation, which can lead to blindness. Therefore, it is important to seek prompt medical treatment if you think you may have entropion.
Can entropion repair without surgery?
If you have entropion, you may be wondering if it can be repaired without surgery. In some cases, mild to moderate entropion can be temporarily treated with nonsurgical methods, such as lubricating eye drops, botox, eyelid tape, or sutures. However, if your entropion is severe, surgery may be the only option.
Can entropion be reversed?
The only way to permanently fix entropion is through surgery, but there are other options for temporary relief. Botulinum toxin can be used to improve spastic entropion for a few weeks, though it doesn't completely cure it.
Is entropion surgery painful?
The surgery is also sometimes done with local anesthetic alone in which case you will feel some stinging for a few seconds as the “freezing injections” are given but the eyelids then become numb and you will not feel any discomfort.
How much does entropion surgery cost?
The inclusive package for the whole procedure is 50000 Pak Rs.
