Injections

An intravitreal injection is a shot of medicine that is administered into the eye. The vitreous, which is the jelly-like fluid inside the eye, will have the medicine injected near the retina at the back of the eye by the Ophthalmologist.

The intrastromal injection is a new way to deliver an antibiotic straight to the site of the infection. This method has been used before with antifungal agents to manage difficult cases of fungal keratitis, however, there is less experience with intrastromal antibiotic agents for bacterial keratitis.
